You Captured Me

You Captured Me

A key was hidden away, my heart locked from love
Others had betrayed me, they were unworthy of
My heart and its fragility, I plastered it with walls
They contact me to this day, texting and calls

It’s funny how love happens, despite being scarred
She was complete perfection, and caught me off-guard
Her smile brightened my spirit, I’ll never forget that day
That she bestowed me with beauty, it took my breath away

I pondered in my car, trying to decide
Should I open my heart or continue to hide?
It was worth it to me, a pure angel in disguise
She rescued me from loneliness  and opened my eyes

How to describe her, someone with such a glow?
Beautiful in every way, I had to let her know
Her reaction was amazing— refreshing, real and right
Butterflies, adrenaline and joy, like love at first sight

There was no hesitation, no reason to wait
Only hours went by, and we scheduled our first date
I think about her every moment, every second that goes by
It’s as though this defied all the rules, I wonder about why

I can’t even concentrate, I can’t even sleep
She enchants my entire soul, these feelings so deep
I finally found my path, where I’ve always wanted to be
You truly are my world, and baby you captured me
