Breaking of the Bones: I

Breaking of the Bones: I

I’ve traveled all my final length
Worn my shoes through and through
I’ve given my final bit of strength
My body fades to ground askew

I feel each strain and bending bone
Each scar beating with my heart
My muscles stiffen into stone
I feel as if I’ll break apart

I lean back against earth so cold
Letting it seep into every joint
Each ache, a story yet untold
Just moments from my breaking point

I breath deep into my burning chest
Gasping after each passing breath
Setting aside my final unrest
Waiting for my bodies death
