Set Love Alight
Set Love Alight
I’d gladly watch the world burn
If only to see your face once more
For your simple touch I yearn
A bewitching and unavoidable allure
I’d set the fire and watch the flame
I’d feel the heat as it leveled the land
I’d accept the hate and take the blame
This devastation I can withstand
This distance how it haunts me so
How lost I feel in lack of your love
What it is my heart does want, I know
So I shall raze the land and watch from above
Perhaps in the blaze and glow
I’ll see something I once did know
If only for a moment until my yearning grows
My want for something lost long ago
And in the desolate aftermath at last
Perhaps this love my pain will surpass
For my feelings have grown far to vast
Greater than worldly treasures amassed
When at last I’m all alone
Standing in the pain I’ve caused
Maybe then I’ll atone
And then my heart shall pause
I loved you once with all my heart
I feared what love than may start
And then you left and tore me apart
Alas, perhaps you were smart
