The Danger of Strangers

The Danger of Strangers

In the dark, where I can’t see, watching me
I see them there, watch them stare

Under my chairs, passing glares
I know you’re there, burdening my cares

Around the corner dressed in coats, taking notes
Stop watching me, leave me be!

Down the street and in that cafe seat
As you sit and pretend to eat, I sense your deceit

Everywhere I turn and look, read me like a book
Whether close or far, quite bizarre

This stranger stalks, watching me with eyes of hawks
I swear their after me, can’t you see?

I’m not wrong, insane or to blame
Paranoid? No, I’m terrified.
