Murder of the Mind: II

Murder of the Mind: II

As our bodies bleed and hearts burn
So does our conscious convulse under duress
For what we seek and what we learn
In lacking, our minds distress

Rigid as our body’s realm may be
Our thoughts live on a plane called infinity
With the sounds we hear and sights we see
A new world churns to which only we hold the key

Atrophy strikes our strength with bloody intent
As does our mind addle with the passage of time
Our thoughts begin to dim and so starts our descent
We fade in whole, little by little, our final crime

Cognizance bending and breaking under strain
An omen of growing doom and immense pain
A once ally timidly becomes my bane
Ignorance is something I can no longer feign

My malicious murderer stands before me now
Their figure hidden in shadow and light
The vision of its ill-fated smile is all they’ll allow
The room starts to fade from my mind’s sight
